Missing; Inspired by events 100 years ago.

Exactly 100 years to the weekend of the festival major advances were made in France and Belgium which signaled a retreat by German troops and the final stages of the first world war. Meanwhile life in Britain had changed forever with people lost and many aspects of a way of life and culture now fading or missing altogether. Changes to industry, food production and farming, technology, working practices, social attitudes, politics and the right to vote by women and working  class men were all outcomes of this tumultuous period in history. Our artists and designers have taken these themes as inspiration for their work developing pieces that draw on events and people in Lewes and beyond.​​​
